Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon was formed by a seismic thrust which forced old rock formations to the top. We spent the afternoon there taking the scenic drive through the park. It was a thrill to get out and hike a few of the trails. A little scary too because the drop is steep. After dumping money into the casino, Red Rock Canyon was a bargain find. Only five bucks for the whole family to go through the park.

Jacob scared the crap out of me when he climbed to the edge of this boulder. I quickly snapped his picture andmade him get down. A man offered to take our family photo but dropped his camera down the trail. Paul had to climb down and get it. Luckily it wasn't broken.

Highway 15

The road to Las Vegas is long. Gas to get there: $4.00 a gallon Sodas and snacks: $36.00
Time spent with the family squashed into a Jeep Commander: unbearable.

Family vacations can be hell. A five hour drive through the desert doubly so. By the time we got to Vegas we were barely on speaking terms and bickering became the preferred mode of comunication. Can you move your foot off the window? I Could, but I Won't because you wouldn't turn off that stupid video on the DVD player. You get the picture?

Everyone calmed down enough to check in the Jockey Club, change for dinner and get to the theater for "Spam Alot." Great seats, some good new material and lots of laughs. We had a quick emergency trip after Dana's arm got banged by the car. (She's fine) We decided to tell anyone who asked about her ice pack that she had slotarmitis. We played slots for an hour at the Orleans and din't win but we had a good time. I dropped her off at the airport this morning and she said, "I am sorry I have to leave you." I'm alone again, the lone female without her I don't stand a chance.
Vacation is over in two days. It's been fun and it's been great seeing friends and sites again.
